The Cisco QSFP-40G-SR-BD is a 40 Gigabit Ethernet BiDirectional (BiDi) transceiver module designed to facilitate high-speed data transmission over existing multimode fiber (MMF) infrastructures. Utilizing two 20 Gbps channels in both transmit and receive directions, it operates within the 832–918 nm wavelength range, delivering an aggregated 40 Gbps bandwidth over standard duplex LC connectors. This module supports link lengths up to 100 meters on OM3 and 150 meters on OM4 MMF, enabling seamless upgrades from 10G to 40G Ethernet without the need to replace current cabling systems.
